A new way to find the best lesson ideas

Pobble, the prize-winning global literacy initiative, has recently launched a new tool to facilitate lesson planning. Pobble Resources allows teachers to search content providers on Pobble and find the best teaching resources. They can then prepare the most engaging lessons easily, and share their lesson ideas, making collaborative planning really easy.

As teachers themselves, the Pobble team are conscious of the workload educators face daily. They set about trying to make teachers’ lives a little easier. A study in 2017 by the Department of Education found that teachers work on average 52 hours a week, of which only 23 are spent teaching. Lesson planning and finding the right resources playing a large part in this.

Simon Blower, former deputy head of Grove Road Primary School and co-founder of Pobble, said: “We saw a serious problem with workload, and wanted to help out fellow teachers.”

With Pobble, teachers can search the site for teaching resources, relevant to their topic, genre and age group. As well as share their own creative lesson ideas. The large bank of over 100,000 pieces of children’s writing on Pobble also serves as a valuable place to find model texts.

Simon continued: “We’ve partnered with major education brands, such as Teachit Primary, Hamilton Trust and BBC, amongst others, to bring the best teaching resources and lesson plans to one place. Our search function allows teachers to easily find relevant resources and create lessons based around these, saving them time.”
